I have daily meetings now ever since we moved into the pod system. I can unequivocally say that this is the most miserable part of my day. When my supervisor and I met, we would meet for at max 10 minutes. Now that we have joint meetings with my mildly retarded coworker, these lovely sessions can last up to 30-40 minutes. Every day. She takes us through each and every item on her to-do list and provides a justification for each one. Also we spend a good chunk of that time hand-holding her through basic problems.
Sample a bit of my misery:
Me: [Supervisor] had to explain something to her
Me: What was it?
Me: I try to suppress these things
Me: Oh, I remember!
Me: So she had brought this issue up with this guy who was blind and couldn’t access the eview presentations with his screen reader
Me: Because his screen reader can’t read flash
Me: So [Supervisor] was working on converting it to a format
Me: (I kind of tuned out the details)
Me: So that the person could at least navigate to the eview presentation and independently click on it and listen to it
Me: So [Mentally-challenged coworker] was like
Me: Wait, I don’t understand
Me: They still won’t be able to see it
Me: NO THEY WONT
Me: BECAUSE THEY’RE FUCKING BLIND
Me: [Supervisor] IS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO MAGICALLY GRANT SIGHT TO THIS PERSON
Me: …he had to explain this to her twice.
